Having trade show displays at conventions and expos offer a business owner a great opportunity to get a lot of attention in one place. The initial cost involved depends on how elaborate you want to go. There is everything from a conservative kiosk all the way up to a triple story trussed display with lighted panels. If you have your trade show displays custom made, you can have just about anything else you can imagine in there.
For a start-up or smaller business this kind of expense may not be to feasible right at the start. There are other options to explore, especially if this is going to be a one-time event and you are not planning to participate in trade shows regularly.
There are companies that sell pre-owned trade show displays and accessories for a fraction of the cost you would pay for new merchandise. In many cases these products are used minimally and you can’t tell the difference between these products and their new counterparts. This is a really smart option for new businesses, smaller companies, or just anyone that wants to save money on their advertising budget or has a trade show coming up and not a lot of money to put toward display products.
Renting is another option, especially if this is probably going to be a one-time event or if the shows will be few and far between. Renting your trade show displays not only save you the money on purchasing the equipment but also the possible expense of storing it all. If you don’t happen to have a big area to put all of your display items then you will have to pay to store them. Some of the other areas renting can save you money would be on the upkeep of the merchandise, setup and tear down the day of the show and transportation to and from the area of the show.
Trade show displays can help bring in a lot of business, but keeping the expenses low enough to make it worthwhile is the only way to capitalize on the shows and conventions that your customers flock to. Buying used merchandise will cut the initial output of funds way back compared tobuying the same products new. You will still have the same back-end expenses such as storage and upkeep. If visiting trade shows is not something you have on your itinerary often then renting maybe a better option for you
